Chapter 17
Benny got some hot water to prepare Aiden’s morning coffee. Since she’d resumed work yesterday, he’d been acting weird and nicer than he’d ever been to her. Did he think that she needed his politeness? He could keep it to himself or shove it down his throat. The worst of all was having to call him by his first name, Aiden. And it wasn’t that she found it inappropriate or disrespectful, as she’d mentioned to him. The thing was that saying his name made her sick to her stomach.
She walked into his office with a cup of coffee.
“Here’s your coffee, Aiden,” she said. She wanted to throw the hot liquid in his face.
“How was your night, Cassie?”
Since when did how she spent her nights become his concern?
“It was good, and yours?”
“Great. How is Bella?” he said.
