Chapter 21

Aiden asked Mira out to lunch. He wanted to break up with her and wanted to do it in a way that wouldn’t hurt too much. He didn’t want to cheat on her.

Mira showed up looking pretty. She took a seat at the table and said she wasn’t hungry. She asked for some water instead. She seemed to have a lot on her mind.

“How are you doing?” he said, preparing his break-up words.

“I’m fine, Aiden. You said you wanted us to talk?”

He nodded.

“I’m guessing it’s about our relationship,” she said in a low tone. Her eyes were sullen.

“Yes.”

“You want to break up with me, don’t you?”

Aiden felt sorry for her. He hadn’t known that he would come to feel this way about their relationship.

“I just feel that it’s not what I’m looking for.”
