Chapter 5
Aiden opened his eyes in perspiration. His heart beat so fast that he thought it would fall off his chest. He turned on his bedside lamp, waking his girlfriend, Mira Lewis, who was sleeping next to him.
“Are you alright, my love?” she said, slowly rubbing his chest.
“I just need a glass of water,” he said, trying to force out the images from the nightmare he’d just had. He’d been having nightmares for seven years now. But had never told his family or Mira about it. Even with therapy, there was still so much guilt etched deep in his soul.
“Call the maid to get one for you.”
“That isn’t necessary.” He got up and headed downstairs to the kitchen.
