Chapter 8
Benny’s days at school became the way Charlotte had described. They avoided her like a plague, and she respected herself and did the same. She would come to class every day and sit alone. She would block the gossip from getting to her. Minka had lied to the entire class that she’d locked little Molly in the toilet to prevent her from writing the test.
Benny had been wondering why Molly hadn’t reported to the principal yet. But she suspected that Minka had threatened Molly not to, as Minka would get in trouble too.
One day, after a lunch break, Benny went to her locker to get something, but a paper was plastered in front. It boldly read “Backstabber.” Benny tore it off while those who were passing laughed at her.
“Well, if it isn’t Benny Myles trying to manage her new reputation, then who else would it be?”
Benny turned back to find Minka smiling wickedly.<
