Chapter 7

Benny turned annoyed as soon as Cherry brought up Aiden in their conversation. They were on their lunch break and were having lunch in a low-budget restaurant. Cherry was the secretary to one of the executives at the company and was the closest thing to a friend Benny had at the company.

Apart from Greg and Laila, Cherry was the only one Benny was friendly with. She didn’t have much use for people. Back in 

high school, she’d been called a backstabber. This was long before she’d gotten pregnant and had become an outcast in school. So, she’d learned to look after herself.

“You know, Benny, you’re lucky to be working as his secretary,” Cherry said.

“Because of the pay?”

“Yes, and more. You get to be in the same office as him.”

“Only when he calls me in.” Benny paused eating.
