Chapter 12

Benny sneezed as she replied to some of Aiden’s emails. She’d been battling a cold since the previous day. Aiden called to ask her to make photocopies of a particular document he’d given her. She left the emails and began photocopying the document.

As soon as she was done, she went into his office to give it to him.

“Here are the photocopies, sir,” she said, handing them to him.

“Thank you, Miss Moss.”

He looked at them briefly.

She’d told him to stop thanking her for the work he was paying her to do, but he’d insisted on being as appreciative as he could. But his politeness couldn’t move her; it didn’t matter to her. Rather, it irritated and riled her up. She usually imagined using one of his sharp pens to stab him as much as he could.

“Cancel my meeting scheduled for 3 pm.”
