I paced back and forth in my study with frustration simmering in my nerves. With the whole press release about the marriage which my father had proposed and the media who relentlessly carried the news around while we had endless meetings with stockholders who had to be convinced that their investments were safe. Fuck, I was on the verge of losing my mind.
The sudden turn of events had caught me off guard, stirring a whirlwind of emotions within. This had unfortunately brewed with the marriage proposal which I couldn’t believe that my father would stoop so low as to use our relationship as a bargaining chip to seal a business deal.
But then again, he was the chairman and founder of the J.B. corporations. He always put his company before anyone and anything else. It was what made us the family we were today. And knowing this, I tried convincing myself that it was his routine and it didn’t betray me every time it happened.
