Chapter 4. Meeting with Regan

After cleaning my face in the bathroom, I quickly returned to my room.

Dugh!

I winced at bumping into someone. Looking down while walking is not good, and your forehead hurts when you rub it.

"Are you ok?" The bass sound made me look up at Aiden's familiar voice.

He stared worriedly while I quickly hugged him. It doesn't matter if you're still in the office; you really can't stand the pain anymore.

"What's wrong, Netta?" he whispered while rubbing my back.

No longer able to speak, I just cried in his arms.

"What is it, honey?" he said again softly.

I let go of his hug to wipe away the tears. Now my face is not messy anymore. Aiden's soft hand stroked my wet cheek.

"Calm down. Everything is fine," he said, making me smile sweetly.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Aiden," I said when I realized where we were right now.

I immediately distanced myself from Aiden and asked permission to go to my room. Aiden was still looking at me with confusion, but never mind. It's also impossible to tell her everything that happened. I finally arrived at my oversized chair and slightly repaired the facial makeup that had been wiped off by my tears.

"Hey, Lo, why?" Sonya popped her head from behind her cubicle, which happened to be next to mine.

"I'm fine, Sonya. I'm just a little tired," I replied.

"Are you sick?" he asked, sounding worried.

"No, it's not like that. Just a little tired today," I replied as quickly as I could before he sent the marketing division into a tailspin with his worries.

"You better rest, or maybe you want some hot tea?"

I shook my head and thanked him for his concern. Sonya finally chose to sit back in her chair.

The image came back. He pinned me up, his hands touching my face, the words in his voice always ringing in my ears.

God, why did it have to be like this? Why did he come back when my life was peaceful with Aiden and Regan? Why did he so easily return to take over and dominate everything? God, I can no longer tolerate any of this.

I rubbed my face in exasperation until my reverie was broken when I heard the sound of an incoming message on my cell phone.

Aiden

You are okay, right?

I'm really not calm and worried about you leaving like that.

I realized that this was too much to make Aiden worry. I immediately replied to Aiden's message and said that I was fine; I was just thinking about Regan. After replying to Aiden's message, I focused back on the work that was waiting for me and tried to banish all the images from my mind.

It was already five o'clock in the afternoon; that was a sign that you could go home. All the equipment that was scattered on the table was cleared, and I immediately grabbed the bag. An incoming message. A message from Aiden said he was working overtime because he had a meeting at half past seven with several of the company's shareholders. I understand and will go home alone. Aiden has been really busy lately. So it's no wonder he rarely comes to the house or walks me home.

After a while, I also noticed that I didn't see Sonya. Where is he? Usually, if I don't go home with Aiden, he will immediately take me home using the bus or taxi. However, who knows where the child is now? I rushed into the elevator that opened to go down, waited a moment thinking, Everything passed so fast, then the elevator door opened. I walked into the office lobby and towards the door. However, my steps stopped when I saw that the rain was so heavy outside. I didn't know what to do because I didn't have an umbrella with me, and I couldn't wait for the rain to stop because Regan would be waiting for me.

I had to go through the rain using a bag as a head protector. It nevertheless continued to run along the sidewalk in the wind-swept, heavy rain in order to reach the bus stop.

"Ahh!"

Before I got to the bus stop, I screamed because a luxury car splashed a pool of muddy water all over my clothes. The luxury car stopped in front of me, and soon the driver got out of the car using a black umbrella. My hands clenched even tighter when I saw Davero approaching.

"Oops. Sorry, Agnes. I really didn't do it on purpose," he said innocently as he stood in front of me.

I just snorted in annoyance because I didn't want to respond to anything and chose to leave immediately.

"Agnet!" Davero said, while I flinched as my wrist was grabbed by him. "Come in! I'll take you."

I waved my hand vigorously in refusal and said, "No need, sir. Thank You. Excuse me."

I rushed to leave, but again he took my arm. "As your boss, I order you to get in the car, Agneta!" said Davero with such pressure that it was hard for me to swallow.

Like it or not, I obeyed his orders by getting into the car. He caught up and threw his umbrella into the backseat, quickly getting ready to drive the car. This heart feels like it is beating very fast; it even feels very suffocating. I don't know what it feels like, but everything remains the same as five years ago. Everything is still beating fast, my blood is racing, and of course I hate it so much. Yes, I hate it!

"Eh?"

I gasped. Suddenly, Davero was about to wipe my cheek with a tissue.

Sorry. Since then, you have daydreamed. I just want to clean the stains on your neck and cheeks," he said.

I immediately took a new tissue and cleaned the stain myself. Davero sighed and threw away the tissue he was holding carelessly.

"So, where should I take you?" Davero asked, breaking the silence.

"Until the next intersection."

"Not the street, but your house. I don't like dropping off a woman on the side of the road," Davero said.

His words disgusted me. Just say you want to sleep with the woman you're dropping off. Damn it!

"Now where else?"

"I'll just get off here," I said.

"Fine, if you don't want to say it. That means you're coming home to my apartment."

"What!" I gasped in shock at his remarks, which made no sense.

"Tell me quickly, Agneta!" He glanced at me with one eyebrow raised.

"Right," I replied sarcastically.

Damn, he grinned smugly enough to make me sick. Hopefully Regan is still at Sonya's so Davero doesn't see her. I am not ready.

"Now where?"

"Enter the gate in front."

"You live in a settlement?" asked Davero, frowning as he drove through the arch.

"Where do you think I will live? Apartments or luxury housing, right?" I quipped.

Davero frowned even more, looking at the muddy, damaged, and dirty streets. I knew he wouldn't want to go to a place like this, so of course I hoped he'd give up walking me home.

"Stop at that brown house!" I said, pointing towards the house I rented.

Davero stopped the car and asked, "You live in this house?"

"Yes, Master Davero. This is my home. My palace," I said as I rushed down the road without saying thank you. After all, he himself forced me.

I walked to the door of the house and put the key in the lock.

"It's very dirty in here."

That comment shocked me, and I immediately turned around. It turned out that the crazy human was following me.

"What do you want now?"

"I?" Davero asked while pointing at himself, and it made me roll my eyes.
