Chapter 8. His Heart Pounded in Pain
"Yes, Uncle?" Regan stopped eating and looked at Davero.
Um, can I ask something?" Dave said, to which Regan nodded.
"Does Regan's father work out of town?"
Davero's question made Regan frown, as if thinking. He was a bit at a loss as to what to say, but finally said what he remembered.
"Mom said Egan doesn't have a dad because dad has left us," Regan said.
Dave pondered for a moment, then asked to make sure. "Is it true?"
Regan nodded and replied, "Egan has never met Egan's father."
Dave looked at him with concern and said, "Never mind. Mother Egan has been able to care for and educate Egan well until now without Father's help."
