Chapter 10. A Musical Confession
John started the ignition to drive away, but Gilbert couldn’t go home without talking to her.
“John, hand me the keys and you can go home. I have something important to take care of.” John handed him the keys and left.
Gilbert locked his car and walked towards Juliet’s apartment. He had to talk to her. Thankfully, the door wasn’t locked. He had just placed his hands on the knob when he heard Juliet talking to her friends.
“I’m sure he wanted to confess his undying love for you, Jackie,” giggled Layla.
“Rubbish! His work is his first love. I’m just his lunch partner. Huh!” said Jackie, falling onto a couch nearby.
“I wish I wasn’t in love with my boss!” she said, placing her hand melodramatically over her forehead in despair. Gilbert’s eyes widened and his heart started racing at hearing her confession. Was she really in love with him? He was the boss, wasn’t he? His breath got stuck in his throat as he waited to hear more.
