Chapter 12. Meeting the Kids
Jacqueline walked out of her apartment and slowly climbed down the stairs, refusing to meet Gilbert’s gaze. She was acutely aware of him watching her from his car, but she silently climbed into the passenger side.
“Good morning, Mr. Prescott sir,” she said in a chirpy tone but he didn’t reciprocate. She discreetly glanced at him and noted the scowl on his features. It didn’t suit him at all. With him looking drool-worthy in a pair of figure-hugging jeans and a black shirt, a charming smile would make him irresistible. She wondered how his wife could abandon him. If she were his wife, she would have had him for breakfast, lunch, and dinner! She battled with herself to suppress the chuckle dying to break free.
“What are you laughing at?” he asked hoarsely.
“Nothing, just remembered something the girls said.”
“You can share the joke with me.”
“No, thanks,” she said and looked out of the window.
