“It is difficult, I know, Dad, but it’s not impossible. You’re handsome, young, and healthy right now. After another twenty years, when neither granny and granddad nor we would be there with you, how would you live alone? You need a friend, Dad just like we need a Mom. Please try harder now. You’ll be happy later. Otherwise, we wouldn’t be able to live anywhere in peace knowing that our dad is all alone somewhere,” said Maddox.
Gilbert stared at his youthful face with concern. It surprised him that his nine-year-old thought so much about him.
