Chapter 66
Jackson's POV
I was going to ignore the news. Pretend it didn’t exist. Block it out like I always do with things I don’t want to deal with. I would’ve done that easily, walking right past the stares, the whispers, the judgment in people’s eyes, as I headed to the elevator.
My workers, clients, even visitors weren’t subtle. Some just stopped what they were doing altogether just to stare at me. Their eyes followed me like I had grown horns overnight. I guess that’s what comes with having your private life leaked all over the news.
The holidays had ended, and things were slowly returning to normal. At least, for everyone else. Ten days into the new year, and the decorations had come down, the cheer faded, and life resumed its usual cold, mechanical rhythm.
The office was packed again. Employees returned from vacation. Clients booked appointments. Job seekers flooded the reception area, dropping resumes and filling out applications. It was Januar
