Chapter 27. Lila On My Mind
Ryder’s POV
We managed to have things fixed and used some of the tools we found in the garage to fix the bookshelf. Fortunately, we didn’t break any pottery. I stared out of the window and then at my watch. It was already dusk and Lila was still lying on the couch breathing steadily and softly.
It was all that stupid wolf’s fault.
I sat on the sofa and watched her as if she might vanish while Caleb paced with his arms folded by the fireplace.
Caleb looked at me and frowned deeply. “The staring should end.” It is eerie.”
“So?” I whispered.” You should stop pacing like an excited kangaroo.” You are creating anxiety in the air.”
Despite rolling his eyes, he appeared to be trying to suppress a smirk as the corners of his mouth quivered.
“She always feels sick when she’s near you. It might be your deodorant.”
“ I use no deodorant.
“ True enough.”
I smiled. “A Coyote shouldn’t be arguing with an Alpha.”
