Chapter 37. If Werewolves Were Real
Lila’s POV
I felt as if I had been dragged through mud and back again when the blood finally stopped its slow unrelenting drip and the pain in my chest subsided just a little. Not only was the blood itself disgusting and heartbreaking to see, but there was also the constant feeling of being drained and heavy, of feeling like your body isn’t yours anymore. The only way to try to get rid of the sticky mess on my skin and the heavy knot in my stomach was taking a shower and perhaps I would push the thoughts of dying out of my mind. Even though the warm water was hammering my shoulders, the cold dread that had taken hold of me persisted. I shut my eyes, the harsh bathroom light, the image of the blood remained a stark red warning that just refused to leave even though I shut my eyes tighter . I felt a little cleaner after getting out of the shower but my insides were still tender and bruised. With each movement feeling like it required too much work to act,
