Chapter 40. Another Boring Dinner

Ryder’s POV

It was yet another boring dinner and as the servants set the table, I just wanted to disappear to my room for a quiet time and that was when Aunt Helena showed up.

Deep down, I wanted her to miss dinner because I knew that a moment with her would mean that I might go deaf any moment. I had wanted to stay back with Jet and the others and we would play PS5 but I had found myself home anyway.

As usual, words tumbled one after the other as they had all evening as my aunt’s gentle voice floated across the table and I winced in pain.

“.... I informed The Omniscient that we would postpone making that decision. Too many decisions, too many things to attend to. They become—you know how they get…..”

I wasn’t paying attention. Not that I give a hoot what The Omniscient said or not, just a bunch of old men who had swore on heaven and earth that they would never ever mind their own business.
