Lila’s POV

Students stealing glances and whispering filled the corridors. Ryder and I were walking side by side, our hands barely touching but enough to make a statement and I could feel the weight of a hundred eyes on us. Fake dating was hardddddd.

I felt as if I was treading carefully next to him and

one mistake and everything would fall apart. I lowered my head trying to block out the pile of envious looks and insults that were whispered.

I looked around and there he was.

Caleb. He was staring at me like I had orchestrated the whole French revolution stuff. He had his lip curled sideways and his face was as cold as expired canned beef.

His icy angry eyes were fixed on us. I was overcome with a wave of rage that I didn’t want to experience.

“You look pretty.” He complimented my light blue knee length gown.

This was the first time I was wearing a gown to school and I looked like one of Harry Potter’s female teachers.
