Chapter 156. The Preparation of Crusade War
Aelea immediately hugged Red and sobbed softly. "I'm sorry I said bad things to you," she whispered.
"It's okay."
"I left the cabin early this morning because I needed to think. On my way back, we suddenly ended up here," Aelea explained. "Thank God I'm with you. I was so scared."
Red offered a faint smile. "Don't worry, Aamon is here to protect you."
Red's words startled Aamon. Red let go of Aelea's embrace and smiled warmly at Aamon, as if nothing had happened.
"Please take care of Aelea. I'll check on the others," Red said as an excuse.
She hurried off, weaving through the crowd, leaving Aamon and Aelea behind. Red just wanted to distance herself from the two of them, because seeing Aamon with Aelea caused her immense pain.
On top of that, Red was still mourning the loss of Kit. If she stayed around Aamon, she was afraid he'd realize how fragile she had become.
