“Handled it,” I repeated the words and scoffed. “How did you do that, Josh?” 

Josh locked eyes with me and with a calm expression, he replied, “I have some connections, I explained what truly happened and now the case is closed. It’s that simple. If anything, you should be thanking me.” 

“Okay, wait. I get that the case closing is helpful and all that, but honestly, it’s not helpful to Nora. If the case is closed then that means that the police will stop looking for the person who really killed her,” I explained. “Unless…” My mind shot a thought in my head that sent a shiver down my spine. “Unless you were the one who killed…”

“Seriously, Lisa? What the f*ck?” He did not even let me finish what was saying. And honestly, I was grateful that he didn’t because I should have never accused him. It was just a random thought and fear that had jumped into my head, something that I should have never voiced out.
