I raised an eyebrow, smirking in disbelief. “You can read my mind? From that?” I gestured toward the canvas, which was just a chaotic blur of colors and shapes, none of it really making sense even to me. 

Was he lying to make me feel good about myself? The thought had me smiling without me even knowing. 

Josh laughed lightly, his expression soft. “Art is an expression of what’s inside. It doesn’t need to be perfect to convey emotion. What I see in your painting, Lisa, is conflict. A lot of it. It’s like you’re trying to make sense of something, but it keeps slipping away, and that’s okay.” He tilted his head, studying the splashes of purple, blue, and red. “It’s raw. That’s what makes it powerful.”
