Chapter 273. A Scene

The car came to a stop and Josh and I got down. His hand instinctively went to my lower back as he guided me through the crowd, his calm demeanor quickly shifting into something more tense and focused. 

I could feel his body stiffen as we approached the entrance of the building. 

A police officer stopped us just outside the doors. “Sorry, sir, no one’s allowed inside right now,” The officer said firmly, his hand raised to block out the path as he did his job. 

Josh squared his shoulders as his hand left me, his eyes narrowing in frustration and confusion. “I’m Josh Aniston, CEO of this building. What the hell is going on?” 

I too wanted to know but I let Josh do his thing. The officer hesitated, then glanced around before lowering his voice. “There’s been an incident on one of the upper floors. We can’t disclose details, but we’ve secured the area. We will need you to step back for your safety.” 

My heart skipped a beat as dread
