“I–I did not want you to know that part,” He said quietly, his voice very soft. “I was trying to protect you from the worst of it.”
“Protect me?” I laughed bitterly. “No, Bradley, you were trying to protect yourself. You were trying so that I could not know the real you, and by doing that, you exposed me to danger, to her! She could have killed me, she is unhinged! And rightfully so!”
My heart was still pounding and fear still filled my heart. I still felt like I was being held under gunpoint and that was not a good or pretty feeling. I hated it. It was the kind of feeling that stayed; the kind that lingered at the back of your mind for a very long time.
