Chapter 35. A Hypocrite

The rain was still heavy and I had no idea when it was going to stop. I had no idea what Mark was pissed or annoyed about and honestly, I did not have the energy for that right now. “Thank you,” I said to the CEO and he flashed me a smile, one that caused my cheeks to get warm. 

“See you tomorrow, Mrs. Specter,” He joked and I could not help but let out a small chuckle. He then turned away and headed back under the rain, the umbrella saving him. In no time, he was back in his car and had driven away. 

I stood there and watched until he was gone. Then, I turned to the door and rang the doorbell. While I waited for someone, I removed my wet shoes and held them with one hand. The door soon opened and there stood Mark, the tight frown on his face very evident.
