Chapter 80. Rules

The wind was calm and the warmth coming from the afternoon sun was almost perfect. I stared at my hands in my lap, trying to make up my mind; trying to decide what to do.

I could feel Josh’s gaze on me, I could tell that he was waiting with bated breath for my decision. 

I finally looked up from my hands and looked back at the guy. He was such a pretty boy. “I forgive you,” I said calmly. “I forgive you for lying to me. I forgive you for stalking me and gaslighting me.”

His eyes turned hopeful and a smile crept onto his face. “Really? Lisa, I…I don’t even know how to thank you.”

“But…that does not make what you did right. Stalking me is crazy. Don’t ever do that sh*t again.” My voice was firm.

He nodded immediately. “I promise you, no, I swear on my life.”

“And if we’re going to stay in each other’s lives, that means no more lying. No matter how hard the truth is, no lying. No matter what.”
