Michael got into his car and raced away. It was just a few minutes after 2 PM, and the roads in Austin were free. He loved driving around this time because the roads were usually seamless with more than half the city in their offices. His mind went back to his just concluded conversation with Diana.

She had officially scored a record by being the first woman to turn him down. And his ego was bruised. In one afternoon, she had managed to soothe his ego and bruise it yet again. What was it about her that got to him? He couldn’t exactly understand it.

She was a renowned attorney, but Austin had a thousand female renowned lawyers. Though he had to admit there was prestige in her reputation. She was beautiful, but beauty was a common asset amongst women and a depreciating one too. She was smart and feisty, but so were a thousand others.
