Chapter 23
The night wore on, and they spoke. Neither of them held back. They talked about dead dreams, past regrets that still haunted the present, future ambitions, hobbies, and interests. They found that they both enjoyed a nice game of table tennis, they loved the same football team, they both were into betting at horse races, and they shared a love for kayaking, canoeing, racing, and cycling. It was midnight before they realized that the night was far spent, and they had to leave because the workers were tired and simply wanted to close up the restaurant and go home.
Lying in her bed that night, Diana ruminated over the night, and she couldn’t stop beaming. Michael Davenport was hands down the most interesting man she had ever met. Hands down, too, the most interesting man she’d had the most in common with. Most of the men she met were either intimidated by her success or found it difficult to take the initiative because her masculine side overpowered theirs.
