Chapter 20
SEBASTIAN
I’ve never hated rides.
It’s usually my getaway method, especially when the house suffocates me.
But right now, I’m not especially liking this ride.
Diego and Kenna in the back mumbling is irritating, and Dahlia being overly quiet beside me is even more prickling, like a dagger driven into my heart.
I wish I didn’t confess how I felt. Now, things are awkward between us. She obviously doesn’t feel the same about me. Because if she did, she’d have said something.
But maybe she couldn’t say anything because of those human beings in the back seat.
Now, I’d never know.
“We’re here!” Kenna screeches again as I pull the car to a stop at the parking lot. She jumps down from the backseat, pulling Diego down with her as they race through the car park to the restaurant.
After we left the lagoon, they’d decided for us to grab breakfast out since we couldn’t catch any fish.
I still wonder why Dahlia had to lie.
