The hospital smelled the same—sterile, quiet, and faintly metallic. Although different from the one Dahlia is in. If only Dahlia would be completely vulnerable with me and let me help her, I’d love to move her mother away from this hospital and help with her treatment. I’m still thinking of how to help without me inserting myself in the picture. Just maybe she’d take the help that way.
I stood outside Matilda’s ward door for a long moment, staring at the small label with her name on it. “Matilda Reed.”
If only she knew the favor she had done for me when she agreed that I visit her mom on her behalf. I wonder if she’d have let me if she knew my intention. It’s selfish…I know. But you can’t blame me for desperately wanting to find my parents. I even believe I’m as desperate as I used to be.
It’s because it has to do with Dahlia. I have fallen so deeply in love with her that I can’t bring myself to hurt her. I’m just being careful.
