Yep! That’s it.
Today is my day. I’m finally getting discharged from the hospital. The sun felt different… warm, soft, and too bright for my tired eyes. I’d been counting down to this moment since the second night, when I decided that hospital sheets and fluorescent lights were never meant for me.
Sebastian came in with a white paper bag in hand, the sound of his footsteps familiar now. He set the bag on the side table and exhaled. “Your medications,” he said matter-of-factly. “You’re officially free to go, Miss Reed.”
I smiled, maybe a little too wide. “Finally.”
He arched a brow. “You make it sound like I kept you hostage.”
“Didn’t you?” I teased lightly. “You’ve been hovering over me like some overqualified nurse.”
“Then I must’ve done a good job, considering you’re standing on your own again.” He held out his hand. “Let’s get you out of here before the doctors change their minds.”
“Change what? They dare not.”
