“No way!” I protested.
If someone had told me a few weeks ago that I’d be standing in my own bedroom, arguing with Dahlia Reed about sleeping arrangements, or a few months back that I’d come across a girl and I’d fall deeply in love with her, I’d have called them insane. Yet there she was, stubborn, beautiful, and glaring at me like I’d just insulted her ancestors.
“You can’t be serious,” she said, crossing her arms. “You expect me to share a room with you?”
“Expect?” I repeated, setting her small bag down by the dresser. Izzy brought it to the hospital after she was admitted. “No. I’m telling you.”
Her mouth fell open. “Why are you doing this?”
“Aren’t you exhausted?” I countered evenly. “The guest rooms aren’t ready. You’re staying here tonight.”
She scoffed. “You mean the guest rooms are probably spotless, but your ego won’t let you admit you just want me close.”
