“We have to do something,” Don repeated urgently, “I’m one hundred percent sure Amelia wouldn’t want anything to happen to Verity.”
Maybe it was the stress of the evening, but something repressed in me lashed out, and I snarked, “Then she should have considered that before getting herself entangled with these...people!”
Don didn’t even react like I assumed he would as he just sighed and muttered, “You’re absolutely right, but remember, she had no choice.”
Everyone always has a choice.
I clicked my tongue and asked, “So what do you suggest we do? Report them?”
