Chapter 9
I always thought it funny how people were always advised to take walks whenever they felt choked up by stress and thoughts. I understood that when someone tended to get over anxious and excited, repetitive physical activity was a good go-to for releasing pent-up, explosive emotions, but that part of ‘clearing your head’? Nah. Taking a walk made you think and think and think.
And it left your mind in a way worse state than it previously was.
That was why I found myself stomping past the walkways and corridors of St. Avenston College whilst looking like a warzone survivor in my vomit-stained shoes and pants and rumpled short-sleeved tee with my swear-matted hair and skin the pallor of sour milk. It’s safe to say that I have seen way better days.
My mind kept scattering and rearranging thoughts, forming scenarios of things that should have happened and implanting them into memories of what actually happened. Like the time when I supported Don’s not going in for therap
