Chapter 4. Lost in Thought
“Listen up, I’ve got you figured out. I know your every move and even where you live. But here’s the deal,” he paused, with a calculated gaze, pacing around her in deliberate circles, like a predator circling its prey. Then, with an air of quiet authority, he resumed, “You keep your mouth shut about what went down tonight. I trust you’re smart enough to understand.”
One of the men interjected, “Boss, it’s too risky to let her go. We’ve got too much at stake here.”
“Are you questioning me?” he snapped.
The man quickly backtracked, “No, boss.”
“Clean her up and ensure she gets home safely,” he commanded.
She got home, and all she could think of was, “What if those people who were killed had children? What will become of their children? How did their parents get involved with this?”
