Chapter 5. Unexpected Encounters
Tyla stepped into the office, and Mr. Williams swung his chair around and asked her to take a seat. He had a smile on his face.
She walked slowly and sat in one of the two seats at the front of his desk.
“I don’t know why someone would want a junior associate to have such a high-profile case. I mean, I know you’re capable of a lot of things, but I’m having doubts,” Mr. Williams said while he lifted a file from behind his desk.
Tyla felt as though the weight had doubled on her shoulders. Less than two weeks ago, she felt so relieved, and this weight was gone. She released a long sigh and pulled the file closer.
“Trust me, it’s not going to be an easy ride. You’re a junior associate with little to no experience and people have started requesting you for such high-profile cases,” he explained.
