Chapter 36

Despite drinking a few shots of whiskey, Louis was kind enough to drive me home. My head was spinning, and if I was sober, I should’ve ridden the bus, but God only knows what I said, and he took me to the hotel.

Good thing Lisa wasn’t around to experience the awkward atmosphere.

“Thanks for the drinks,” I told him, though I knew my voice felt loopy.

“Thank you, as well,” He winks. “You can go upstairs by yourself?”

“I can handle myself.”

“Sure, you can.” He nods, and I turn towards the main entrance.

I could only assume he was waiting for me to go inside as I heard his car honk the minute I stepped foot at the entrance. I tried so hard to push myself to shower before flopping onto my bed, and I immediately dozed off despite my wet hair.

For another week, I gave my best to avoid Trixie. Although we work in different departments, she couldn’t avoid causing trouble for me. One time, she’d constantly blame me for what happened with Mr. Ruel, and
