Chapter 33. Dead Gypsy

Thoughts raced in his heart thinking Rick has gotten to her daughter and forced her into a plane back to New Orleans. The thoughts of what he would do to Rick continues to flood his mind.

“Mary is no longer with us,” she finally admitted.

“Of course, we can see that and that’s why I need to know where she is.” He stared with a wide-eyed gaze, feeling lost.

“That’s not what I meant,” she spoke once more in a tiny voice filled with fear. “What I am trying to say is, she’s dead.”

Clinton’s face turned pale as he tilted back on his heels, breathing heavily. “That’s not true and can’t be.”

“I am sorry to be the bearer of the bad news. But that’s the reality,” she said, keeping her distance from Clinton. She knew how he could be when he gets angry or heartbroken. “I can no longer feel her soul in this world.”

Clinton slumps on the couch, sobbing like a baby. Tears blurred his eyes that he couldn’t even gaze clearly at Mary’s picture in his hand.
