Chapter 40. Humpy Dumpy

He stepped toward Mia, glaring at her. Before Mia could react, Daryl grabbed her by the arm, yelling, “Where is my brother?!” His face became distorted with rage as a violent feeling came upon him to take on anything and everyone around him.

Mia swallowed a lump in her throat and spoke in a quivering voice. “I don’t know.”

“You are lying!” he yelled, fastening his grip on her. He pushed her against the wall and yelled louder, “If you don’t tell me, you will end up like the dude on the floor!”

Mia and Daryl have been friends for many years before his demise in the hands of his brother. She has defended him even when he stepped on people. Things have change after saying yes to Dave. She swallowed a lump in her throat and spoke once more in a voice that betrayed her courage. “I don’t know.”

Daryl’s face turned mean and serious as he stared at Mia with a stone face gaze. “I am not here to be lied to!” he said. “One more chance, tell me where I could find Rick!”
