POV: Harmony Winters
“317... 318... 319... 320...” my voice trailed off as I kept on counting the numbers in a low tone, more like a whisper, careful not too get too loud so as not to attract unwanted attention to myself.
The crickets chirped in the dark of the night, and lizards on the rooftop made eerie noises, making me jolt in fear every now and then. Once or twice, some rats had climbed over my feet as they scurried in the darkness, leading me to turn on the flashlight of my phone, which was really dim as my battery was almost dead. I needed the light, especially because I was so scared of the darkness.
It was always in situations like this that one would understand the importance of electricity, and why charging one’s phone is very important.
