Chapter 42
“What do you want from me?” she asked, and her voice was barely audible because of fear.
“Nothing. I just saw you there, and it would be a waste to let someone as beautiful as you die instantly,” he stated and then he advanced toward me.
I panicked even more because his movements were predatory and calculated. I stumbled backward, while my heart pounded in my chest like a caged bird desperate for freedom to fly away.
“Let me go, please,” I pleaded for him to release me or to spare me from whatever twisted fate he had planned, but he just laughed.
“Let you go? Easily? Whoa, you must have really thought I am stupid, Madame,” he told me.
When my pleas fell on deaf ears, I knew that his soul was consumed and lost in the darkness. The realization struck me like a dagger. How had I ended up in this nightmare? What cruel twist of fate had led me to this moment?
