Chapter 48
It had been several hours since we returned from the hospital, and I couldn't stop glaring at Henry. He knew he was allergic to the chocolate cake, but he ate the whole thing just to make me feel guilty. I couldn't understand what was going on in his head, but I could tell there were a lot of mean thoughts in there. What happened to him? Every day, he seemed to get worse, and the memories of when he used to be gentle and kind to me slowly faded away.
In the late afternoon, Pedro came by and invited me for a coffee break. He said there was a small coffee shop a couple of blocks away from our homes. I agreed, but I needed to go back to the house to change my outfit. A few minutes later, I was ready to go, but I found Henry lounging in the living room, and as soon as he saw me, he frowned.
"Where do you think you're going?" he asked.
"Pedro invited me for a coffee break," I replied.
"Did you ask for my permission to go out?"
