Chapter 111. In the Dark
Leah’s POV
My mom… where was she? My heart was thumping in my chest and I was not just nervous, I was scared. Because what if? What if something bad had happened? What if Rafael’s family…
I don’t know but I was just worried.
I rushed out of the room, my feet barely touching the cold wooden floor as I searched the hallway with wide eyes. The wooden floors were a stark contrast to the marble floors that I had gotten used to from being back in Columbia.
But at the same time, it was a reminder that I was free. It was a reminder that I was no longer a glorified prisoner and that I finally had what I had wanted since the day of the car crash. But it was also a reminder that anything could happen and that I needed to always watch over my shoulders.
Panic buzzed in my chest like a hornet. What if something happened? What if last night was just the calm before the storm?
But then, I heard the soft hum of a kettle boiling.
