Chapter 133. Being Discharged
Leah’s POV
Rafael looked at me, eyes dark and unreadable, and for a moment, I thought he was going to snap. All the signs were there, he looked like he was going to shout at me; or tell me something that was going to make me feel like trash.
But instead, he let out a slow exhale and dragged a hand over his face like he was trying to pull off a mask he was tired of wearing.
“I know,” he said, so quietly I almost didn’t catch it. His voice sounded hoarse, like it had taken a lot out of him to admit that. “I just…this isn’t about the doctor.” He made his way over to my bed and sat down.
“Then what is it about?” I asked, softening my tone. My irritation was still there, simmering under my skin, but concern was bleeding through faster now. “Because something’s eating you up inside, and I don’t like being in the dark.” I was just trying to be honest and I felt like this was the best way to put it.
