Leah’s POV
I closed the door, surprised by this but not too surprised. I did know what this meant though, and it scared me.
I made sure to lock the door before making my way over to the dead cat. At least the last time, the dead animal had not decayed. But this time was different, I could see maggots crawling in and out of the body.
I felt like it was symbolic, a way to tell me that the masked man was more serious this time.
The smell was just as bad up close, if not worse. But I pushed through and knelt beside it, reaching for the small white rope.
Then I took the fortune cookie, I crumpled in my hand and there was a small white paper, a website on it. It was not the same as the last time, and I already knew what to do; I had played this game before.
