Chapter 18. Sirens

Leah’s POV

My heart skipped a beat when I heard the sirens and as I watched the police cars zoom past us. 

I was alone at the back of the car and I knew that I could just open the door and jump out, but considering how fast the car was going, I knew that if I jumped out, I was going to seriously injure myself…or could possibly die.

My heart pounded as we put more distance between us and the scene. With each passing second, we were getting further away from the hotel; further away from me being saved and returned to my mother and life.

But there was nothing I could do. I needed to just accept my fate like Jules had told me. I needed to just listen to him, and maybe I won’t end up like all the other girls that I was told about. 

My stomach was in knots and considering that I had been so close to freedom, and had even talked to my mom, it made my mind fall into a state of depression.
