Leah’s POV
The call ended and I was left sitting there, staring at the screen, trying to wrap my head around the conversation that Kate and I had just had. I feel like recently, I have been doing this a lot.
Not sitting and staring at a screen, but just the action of trying to wrap my head around something. I feel like I had been doing that a lot; trying to understand something, or process it, or just accept that it was happening.
But I guess that's what happened when you were living the kind of life that I was now living. I was in a house with a bunch of killers; people who had killed others and would not hesitate to do it again.
The very thought caused chills to run down my spine but that was the truth. I may have been getting used to it by now because I had no choice but to accept my fate, but the truth was actually chilling.
