Leah’s POV
My heart thundered in my chest as I sat there, just being stared at by everyone that was at the table. I already knew how messed up and toxic this family was, and they were powerful too; so that meant that they would go to any length to get what they want.
And that if they saw me as a threat, they would gladly do whatever it took to get rid of me. I did not want to be caught in their crosshairs. I did not want to make my life even worse. I did not need more enemies, but allies.
I closed my eyes for a split second or more before I opened them and breathed out a sigh through my nose. I locked eyes with Cassie and she had this smile on her face that did not quite reach her eyes.
