Leah’s POV
Jake stared at me, and I could tell that he did not like this idea. I could tell that he regretted that he had stood up for me back in class. I could tell that he regretted that I now knew that he was on a scholarship and that he was not like the rest.
And I hated that. I do wish that he had never stood up for me. I do wish that he had just kept his mouth shut. I wished that I never knew his backstory; which was probably something that he did not want people knowing.
“Please…” I said the word again. I did not want him to lose his scholarship all because of me. I did not want to live with that kind of guilt.
“Fine,” I finally gave in, the word breathy and filled with frustration. “What do you suggest? Do you want me to come over to your place?” He asked.
