Chapter 118. Defending
Leila’s POV
I woke to the soft clinking sound of a tray being set down beside me. As my eyes finally focused on the morning light, I blinked my eyes and found Dominic sitting at the edge of the bed holding a tray with a freshly made breakfast on it. Quite the unexpected sight, and…well, comforting for some reason.
“Morning,” he said, his voice warm in ways I wasn’t precisely used to. “I thought you might like breakfast in bed.”
I stared for a second, trying to process it all. “Good morning,” I said, sitting up to feel that soreness from last night. I fought the memories of just how raw things had been between us, pushing any resentment down as I looked upon the spread before me: fresh fruit, eggs, toast, and coffee… things I hadn’t had in a while.
He handed me a glass of orange juice, and sat back, never once taking his eyes off of me as I took a tentative sip. “I thought we could go see your brother today. What do you think?”
My eyes went wide.
