Chapter 117. Stay with Me Tonight

Dominic’s POV

The air was heavy and stifling the instant I stepped back into the room. Leila lay in bed, the soft light breaths sent a contrast to what turmoil roiled in my brain. I watched her sleep, the shallow rise and fall of her chest; at that moment, a wave of guilt rained down on me.

I could not envision how Luca had been with her while I fought for my life. The knowledge gnawed at me, some sort of dark parasite digging deeper into my head.

Leila stirred, her brow furrowing slightly as she came to life. She attempted to sit but immediately winced, at razor-sharp pain jolting between her legs. I was having a heart attack. “Leila?” I said softly, hurrying toward her side.

“Dominic,” she spat, venom heavy in her voice as she shoved my hands away. “Don’t touch me.”

“I’m so sorry,” I suddenly burst out, contrition oozing from my voice. “It was wrong. I shouldn’t have treated you like that. I just—”
