Chapter 27. Shadows of Betrayals
Dominic’s POV
I couldn’t stand it any longer, so I started for the door.
Suspicion oozed from every room in that mansion, and with a dogged determination, I had called each and every worker within those walls to find out what happened to Leila. She had been pushed, and the one behind this deed was one inside these very walls.
I was at one end of a wide table at the corner with my arms crossed over my chest, my eyes moving back and forth from one to another. The quiet was almost smothering.
“You know why you are here,” I said, using my best frosty voice. “Yesterday, Leila was pushed down the stairs. I want to know who did it.”
Some of them squirmed and looked around at each other nervously for a place to put their eyes, obviously looking suspicious. Others loomed straight ahead, faces blank, trying to keep any sign of guilt off their faces.
I wasn’t going to let these attempts count.
“I am going to ask you a few questions,” I told them
